Techno EPDM Contact Adhesive is a high-performance bonding solution specifically designed for EPDM roofing systems. This advanced adhesive ensures a strong and durable bond between EPDM rubber membranes and various substrates, including wood, metal, and other roofing materials. Ideal for both horizontal and vertical applications, it provides excellent adhesion for seamless roof installations, even on upstands and complex seams.
This solvent based contact adhesive is easy to apply using a roller or spray, ensuring an even, consistent coverage on the surface. The TRC EPDM Contact Adhesive is formulated to work efficiently in varying conditions, ensuring a secure, long-lasting bond that can withstand harsh weather conditions.
Key Features:
- Strong Bonding: Provides a durable, flexible bond for EPDM rubber membranes and various substrates.
- Versatile Application: Suitable for both horizontal and vertical surfaces, including upstands and seams.
- Quick Drying: Allows for efficient installation with varying drying times based on conditions.
- Easy to Use: Simple application process with consistent coverage and minimal clumping.
How to use:
- Remove the lid from the packaging and thoroughly stir the bonding adhesive before and during use. Be sure not to apply the contact adhesive to areas that will later be spliced or seamed to another sheet or flashing. It's recommended to mark these areas beforehand to avoid accidental application.
- Using a solvent-resistant roller, apply the adhesive to both the underside of the EPDM membrane sheet and the substrate. Ensure both surfaces receive approximately the same drying time. Apply the adhesive evenly, taking care to avoid puddles or clumps.
- Allow the EPDM contact adhesive to dry. To check readiness, lightly touch the adhesive with a clean, gloved finger and gently push forward. If the adhesive doesn’t stick or string, it is ready for bonding. If the adhesive is sticky or stringy, allow it more drying time.
- Make sure the substrate is dry before applying the adhesive—do not apply if there is standing water or condensation. The surface should be free from loose debris, sharp objects, oil, grease, and other contaminants.
- Drying times may vary depending on temperature and humidity conditions. Once the adhesive is ready, start at the fold and carefully roll the coated portion of the membrane onto the coated substrate. Roll slowly and evenly to minimize wrinkles. To ensure proper adhesion, apply pressure to the bonded area using a broom or weighted roller.
- When applying adhesive to upstands or decks, ensure the adhesive is touch-dry before securely applying the membrane.
- Be sure to read the material safety data sheet (MSDS) before use.
