Valve jackets are the best way to insulate strainers. Since the jackets contain mineral wool, they give superior insulation. They also improve workplace safety and help make your building more energy-efficient.

Here’s how:

  • Manufacture: The thermal insulation jackets that we supply here at Buy Insulation Online are made with top-quality silicone glass cloth, that ensures a neat and smooth finish every time. The cloth is sewn around 50mm Rockwool which has low thermal conductivity and helps to restrict heat loss in strainers. Valve covers also have velcro straps and pull cords that give airtight insulation around the strainer valves. They also protect valves against dirt, dust and other impurities, thus increasing the service life of the valves.
  • Thermal Insulation: Valve covers contain mineral wool with low thermal conductivity, meaning they restrict heat loss in valves. It helps save energy and money and also decreases your carbon footprint. The pull cords and velcro strap make installation easy. Furthermore, they ensure that valve covers fit perfectly around strainers, leaving no gaps, and thus no way for heat to escape.
  • Safer Workplace: Valve covers help protect your staff from direct contact with the hot surface of the strainer valve. Not only that, but since the valve jackets restrict heat loss, cases of condensation and sweating will also be reduced. As a result, workplaces will no more have small pools of water that can easily lead to slips or accidents, injuring personnel. Hence valve covers give way to a cleaner and safer work environment.
  • Easy to Maintain: As mentioned earlier, valve covers can be easily installed around three-way valves. They can just as easily be removed for maintenance purposes. Unlike traditional, rigid insulation, valve covers are not damaged when they are removed or re-installed.

Strainer Valve Jacket Insulation

Strainers play an important role in the H&V system. They help filter out impure, foreign particles in the pipeline. So it is critical to insulate strainer valves and protect them in any way possible.

Valve jacket insulation protects strainers - both screwed and flanged- from damage, heat loss and much more. At Buy Insulation Online, we stock top-quality valve jackets from strainers, at a low cost. These are made in standard grey, standard black, white and silver colours.

We stock these insulation jackets in sizes ranging from 15mm to 300mm. If you are unsure of the right size for your application or need custom-made strainer valve covers, drop us an email or call us, and we will be happy to help you. We also do job site surveys for valve insulation jackets.

Now, let's look into the stainer valve jackets insulation, in-depth:

What are strainer valves?

As mentioned above, strainer valves help filter out extraneous material from pipelines. The versatility of strainers makes them essential to the health and security of the system they are utilised in. These valves ensure the safe functioning and durability of other components of the plumbing system including, pumps, control valves etc

Why insulate Strainer valves?

Strainers help filter out the unwanted materials in your plumbing which in turn ensure smooth functioning of other plumbing components. Therefore it becomes critical to protect such an important component from any kind of damage and harmful environmental conditions

Also, without insulation of their own, strainer valves can be a point of heat loss/gain for the liquid within. By insulating them, you not only restrict heat loss but also prevent condensation or sweating of strainer valves.

Valve jackets can help you do both of these. They are flexible, removable valve covers that perfectly fit around strainers for airtight insulation. They protect them from heat loss, condensation/sweating and external damage. This converts to a healthier plumbing system and lesser energy bills.

Is strainer valve jacket insulation worth it?

Earlier, strainers were insulated with hard, rigid traditional insulation. The insulation materials used offered good thermal insulation but were difficult to maintain.

Every time strainer valves needed maintenance, the rigid insulation around them was removed, sometimes harming both the insulation and the stainers in the process. This would increase the time for maintenance. Plus, if the insulation was to be harmed in the process and considered unfit for re-installation, then the whole time strainers would be without any insulation leading to a waste of energy and money.

Valve jackets are a smart way and innovative way to insulate strainers. They can be removed and just as easily reinstalled without harming the insulation or the strainers. Valve covers reduce maintenance time, saves money and protects the strainer. Valve jackets are definitely worth it.

How do valve covers work?

Valve covers are made of two main components. The silicone or PVC coated fibreglass cloth and mineral wool insulation. Each strainer valve jacket has about 50mm mineral wool insulation in it. Mineral wool has low thermal conductivity, and hence restricts heat loss/gain in strainers.

The fibreglass cloth is approved by the required regulatory bodies for use in plants, factories etc. They protect personnel and valves from burns and damage, respectively.

Does valve jacket insulation stop condensation/Sweating?

Yes. When you insulate a strainer valve with a valve cover, you restrict the heat loss or gain. Valve jackets also cover the valves from all sides, giving airtight insulation.

So, the strainers are not in direct contact with the surroundings, and hence the temperature difference between the two is lower. Condensation happens when there is a significant temperature difference between two surfaces. Therefore, by covering the strainers and by restricting heat loss/gain in them valve jacket insulation prevents condensation and sweating in valves.

How do valve covers improve working efficiency?

When strainers are left uninsulated they lose/gain heat, condense or sweat, leading to the formation of tiny pools of water. An employee could slip due to these pools leading to accidents and mishaps in the workplace.

Also, valve covers protect personnel from coming in direct contact with the hot surface of the strainers. If the strainers are not covered properly, it could cause burns when the employee comes in direct contact with its hot surface.

Strainer valve jacket insulation makes a workplace much safer and therefore, efficient.

Where can I buy the Stainer valve jacket Insulation Online?

You buy this valve covers online right here at Buy Insulation Online. We stock them in standard sizes and if you are unsure of the size you need, we are just a call or email away.

How to choose the size of a  Strainer insulation jacket?

The size of the valve cover will depend on the size of the pipe your strainer is on. For example, if the strainers are on a 32mm pipe, then the strainer valve cover you need is 32mm.

Another important information we need when we make these jackets is the thickness of the pipe lagging on these pipes. The valve made needs to cover the entire set-up.

How to fit the strainer valve jacket insulation?

Free the strainer valve of any dirt with a dry cloth. Just wrap the valve cover around them, and secure it using the velcro straps on the valve jackets. Draw the pull cords to ensure airtight insulation.

Insulating strainer with valve jackets is the best way to protect them from heat loss and damage. If you need any help with your purchase, we are just a phone call away.
