Powerlon UltraPerm Premium is a high-performance, non-woven composite membrane designed for use in pitched roof and wall applications, especially in timber frame structures. Engineered for maximum vapour permeability and durability, this breather membrane delivers superior protection while allowing structures to ventilate efficiently.

Crafted as a non-woven composite, Powerlon UltraPerm Premium offers exceptional water vapour transmission rates, enabling moisture to escape from within the building envelope while remaining water repellent on the outside. This helps maintain dry insulation and prevents condensation-related damage.

Ideal for supported and unsupported installations, this composite membrane acts as a robust underlay beneath tiles or slates, with added UV stability for exposed applications prior to final covering. Whether you're working on a roof or walls, Powerlon UltraPerm Premium ensures long-term reliability and performance.

Key Features:

  • BBA certified for trusted quality and compliance

  • Optimised for pitched roof and wall systems in timber frame structures

  • Highly breathable with vapour permeability that promotes a healthy building envelope

  • Effective water vapour transmission combined with water repellent surface protection

  • Lightweight and easy to handle breather suitable for supported and unsupported applications

  • Provides UV resistance for temporary exposure during construction

Installing Breather Membrane

Wall Installation

  • Install the membrane either horizontally or vertically, fixing it to the exterior of the frame using non-corrosive fixings.

  • When working with SIPs panels, the membrane can be stapled directly to the panel surface.

  • Overlap upper layers over lower layers in a tile-like fashion to ensure effective water run-off.

  • The membrane must extend at least 25 mm below the lowest horizontal timber, ensuring full protection of the base framework.

  • Mark stud positions clearly to facilitate accurate wall tie installation.

  • At external corners, return the membrane by a minimum of 100 mm, and secure to every stud at a maximum of 200 mm centres using nails or staples.

  • If the membrane is left exposed before cladding, use battens to hold it firmly in place and prevent wind uplift.

  • For improved airtightness, seal laps and penetrations using Powerbond Acrylic Tape or Powerbond Double-Sided Butyl Tape.

Wall Overlap Guidelines

  • Horizontal overlaps: Minimum 100 mm

  • Vertical overlaps: Minimum 100 mm

Roof Installation

  • Install Powerlon® UltraPerm Premium with the printed side facing outward.

  • Use a staple hammer to position the membrane before final battening.

  • On unsupported roofs, where the membrane is draped over rafters:

    • Cover horizontal laps with a batten.

    • Ensure the bottom edge of the lap does not project more than 25 mm below the batten to secure it against wind uplift.

  • If counter battens are required, use battens with a minimum thickness of 12 mm.

  • The membrane can remain exposed for up to 2 months, but it's strongly recommended to install tiles or slates as soon as possible to reduce the risk of water ingress.
