Protecta FR Coating is a fire-rated solution for sealing and protecting protecta FR boards. Protecta FR Coating is an ablative sealant designed to enhance fire protection, preventing the spread of fire and smoke with its non-halogenated fire retardants.
This fire rated coating is madee with polymer system and inert fillers. It is a spray grade ablative sealant coating designed to improve, seal and fire protect mineral fibres.
The ablative property of this fire rated coating resists flame spread and protects the mineral fibres against fire penetration by greatly reducing the permeability of the mineral fibre core and prevents the passage of hot gases. This inturn reduces the temperature rise on the unexposed side and reducing heat conduction through the building services.
Mineral fibres, like in the Protecta FR boards, coated with FR Coating are designed to prevent the spread of fire and smoke through opening in fire rated walls and floors and where openings are formed to allow the installation of multiple building services. The system will also maintain the acoustic design performance.
Protecta Fire rated coating is designed to be applied by spraying directly onto mineral fibres, Protecta FR baord for example. The coating dries to give a sound and flexible white surface finish. During installation of mineral fibres, the cured sealant coating reduces de-lamination and increases the surface stability for adhesive and fixing sealant application.
