Prowarm in-joist/ Batten underfloor heating panels have an expanded polystyrene base with foil-faced insulation on top. They are designed to perfectly fit 350mm floor joists. These in-joist foil panels have pre-cut grooves that completely secure 16mm and 15mm pipework.
Both the expanded polystyrene and the foil-facings on top ensure that the heat generated by the underfloor heating is directed upwards towards the floor. This completely eliminates the chances of heat loss through the subfloor. These underfloor heating panels are ideal for suspended floors.
The best part about using this underfloor heating panel is that it completely eliminated the need for a foil-failed insulation board like PIR for example and a separate spreader plate. With a firm base of expanded polystyrene, these in-joist foil panels are much stronger and more sturdy compared to metal spreader plates.

Installation:
The in-joist foil underfloor heating panel is about 50mm deep, which means there must be a difference of 50mm between the top of the joist and the top of the batten.
Start by fastening battens to the sides of the joists, with the top of the batten 50mm below the top of the joist. Then place and secure the in-joist underfloor heating panel on the top of the batten. This will allow the in-joist/batten foil panel to align perfectly with the top of the joist. The underfloor heating pipes are then inserted into the pre-cut grooves of the underfloor heating panel. Installation is then completed by installing the finished floor.
