FlameOut Block Class A Vapour Control Layer (AVCL) is a high-spec, flame retardant vapour barrier designed to meet the highest safety and performance standards in modern construction. It is manufactured using a glass woven scrim with an aluminium layer which is protected against corrosion with a special lacquer.  Reinforced with a robust glass scrim, it delivers excellent tensile strength—ideal for demanding wall and roof applications. The aluminium layer is treated with a specialist protective coating, enhancing resistance to corrosion and extending long-term performance.

Independently tested to EN 13501-1, this FlameOut Block Class membrane is classified as A2, offering advanced fire resistance for high-risk zones. Its flame retardant (FR) properties make it ideal for use in roofs, walls, and other structural assemblies requiring a flameout block class material.

When installed in wall and roof systems, FlameOUT® Block Class A acts as an effective vapour control layer, prevents moisture-build up and prevents heat loss, maintaining energy efficiency and protecting the structure. 

FlameOUT® Block Class A is ideally suited for high-rise buildings over 18 plus m in England and over 11 plus m in Scotland, as well as other safety-critical construction projects.

FlameOUT® Block Class A also supports compliance with BS 9250 by contributing to airtightness in a well-sealed ceiling, and aligns with BS 5250 guidelines for controlling condensation within roof spaces.
