Thermoguard Fire Varnish 2k Basecoat is a premium, two-pack product consisting of a base and activator, designed to provide robust and decorative fire protection of timber and timber-derived surfaces. This clear intumescent varnish is the essential first step in the Thermoguard Fire Varnish System. When exposed to fire, the Thermoguard Fire Varnish expands to create an insulating barrier, shielding the wood from heat and oxygen and effectively preventing combustion and flame spread. This basecoat is the foundation for achieving high-level fire resistance while maintaining the natural beauty of wood surfaces.
Applications & Uses
Thermoguard 2k Fire Varnish Basecoat is exceptionally versatile, suitable for fire protecting a wide range of new or existing timber surfaces.
- Substrates: Ideal for both internal and external wood surfaces.
- Existing Finishes: Can be applied over firmly adhered standard clear varnish or even some old fire coatings, provided the surface is prepared correctly.
- Projects: Perfect for doors, panelling, cladding, beams, and decorative timber where both fire performance and aesthetics are critical.
