MgO Plasterbond is a specially formulated mineral-based plaster primer designed to control high suction backgrounds on Magnesium Oxide (MgO) boards while still remaining vapour open. This high-performance, water-based primer creates a fine-gritted surface that provides a key for a new suitable plaster to bond effectively, helping to ensure durable plaster adhesion and long-term system performance.
Manufactured using natural minerals and water-glass technology, MgO Plasterbond is free from any other co-binders such as solvents, gypsum and cement. Its non-hazardous formulation contains no VOC and no odour, making it suitable for use in commercial and refurbishment projects.
MgO Plasterbond has been independently tested for vapour diffusion by Sheffield Hallam University and PRA Coatings, helping to ensure moisture can pass through the construction without becoming trapped within the building fabric. This breathable primer is ideal for use with magnesium oxide-faced insulation systems including Spacetherm Wall Liner, Spacetherm Multi Boards and other MgO-based insulation applications.
This primer is easy to apply with a broad brush using short strokes, ensuring the grit is evenly spread across the surface. Once MgO Plasterbond has fully cured, suitable plasters can be applied, typically from 24 hours after application depending on site conditions.
