Proctorwrap is a high-performance spunbonded polypropylene film laminate membrane developed primarily for use as a wall breather membrane in timber frame and light steel frame construction. Suitable for factory application during frame manufacture or installation on site, Proctorwrap provides reliable protection against wind-driven rain, snow, dust, and adverse weather conditions throughout the construction phase.
Once the building is complete, Proctorwrap continues to deliver long-term performance by allowing the controlled escape of water vapour from within the wall structure while helping to prevent the ingress of rain and external moisture. This breathable design supports the durability of the building fabric and helps reduce the risk of condensation-related issues.
With a vapour resistance of Sd 0.02m, Proctorwrap exceeds the requirements for a high-performance wall breather membrane and is below the maximum level permitted under current NHBC guidance. When installed in accordance with relevant NHBC Practice Notes, it provides a durable and effective permanent breather membrane solution.
Proctorwrap also features enhanced W1 water resistance, making it suitable for use in highly exposed locations, including coastal and severe weather environments. As a result, it can be confidently specified for wall applications throughout all regions of the UK, delivering dependable moisture management, weather protection, and building envelope performance.
Key Features
- High-Performance Wall Breather Membrane: Developed for use in timber frame and light steel frame wall constructions. Ofers Increased airtightness over other breather membranes
- Weather Protection During Construction: Provides effective protection against wind-driven rain, snow, and dust before the external cladding is installed.
- Vapour Permeable Design: Allows the controlled escape of water vapour from within the wall structure.
- Helps Reduce Condensation Risk: Supports moisture management within the building fabric and helps minimise condensation issues.
- Low Vapour Resistance: Features an Sd value of 0.02m, enabling excellent breathability and moisture control.
- Enhanced W1 Water Resistance: Provides a high level of resistance to water penetration and external moisture.
- Durable Polypropylene Construction: Manufactured from a robust spunbonded polypropylene film laminate material.
- Supports Building Performance: Contributes to a healthier, more durable, and energy-efficient building envelope.
Installation:
Supplied in roll form, Proctorwrap should be fixed to frames with austenitic stainless steel nails or staples at centres no more than 500mm. On areas where sheets are required to be lapped, the following dimensions must be adhered to:
Vertical Laps - not less than 150mm
Horizontal laps - not less than 100mm
Ensure integrity of Proctorwrap by overlapping upper layers over lower layers and staggering vertical joints. Protect timber at wall plate level and mark stud positions for wall tie fixings. Once applied to the wall, Proctorwrap should be covered within 3 months.
Proctorwrap must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and recommendations.
- Proctor Wrap is a 100m Long, 2.7m or 1.35m wide, available in Blue and Grey Colour.
- Helps reduce the risk of condensation in timber frame wall and light steel frame wall applications
- Supports airtight construction and energy efficiency
- Allows temporary protection of the building structure until the primary external covering is installed.
